    Waiting

Waiting is the hardest part, you know. You're waiting as patiently as you can, trying to keep your hands busy, so your mind has something to keep it from wondering, pondering, questioning. But then you lose focus for one split second, and you hear the nearly inaudible sound of the clock counting the minutes down. Inaudible to everyone else, but to you it's so fucking loud, and soon it's all you can think about. And as you sit and listen to the incessant tick tock of the clock, you can almost swear the seconds drag out into minutes and the minutes into hours and the hours into years. Time slows, drags its feet like some insolent child, and you just want to scream to drown out the sound. Scream in the hope that if you can't hear the sound, time will speed back up and your waiting will finally, mercifully end. And thinking it over now, waiting isn't the hardest part. It's what goes on inside your mind while you're waiting that's the hardest part. And again, there goes that mocking tick tock of the fucking clock. Waiting sucks.
